**Responsibilities**: Works directly with principal investigator(s) and/or research program director(s) to carry out research administrative functions related sponsored grants, agreements, or award management (proposal preparation through closeout).
- 20% Serves as a liaison and expert resource for researchers regarding the interpretation of policy and procedure related to overall sponsored project management
- 30% Works collaboratively with researchers to prepare non-technical materials for proposals, drafting contracts or agreements for review, and/or advising award setup
- 25% Leads researchers in the preparation and/or maintenance documentation, financial management, and/or reporting requirements related to sponsored grants, contracts, or agreements
- 5% May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators
- 10% Maintains and monitors grants and contract budgets
- 10% Assures compliance with grant, contract or agreement requirements and determine whether objectives are being met

**Qualifications**:
Required:

- MS Excel competency for use in budgeting, reconciling accounts, and projecting staffing and other expenses
- Proficiency creating/formatting/combining documents
- Experience interpreting and reviewing documents for compliance with various policies, preferably related to sponsored research
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment across departments and among external partners

Preferred:

- Research Administration experience at UW-Madison (either proposals, award management or both)
- Experience working with and supporting interdisciplinary research teams
- Understanding of State and/or University travel and purchasing policies and procedures, including foreign transactions, preferably related to grants
- Familiarity with electronic routing and online reporting systems related to State and/or University grants, preferably with RAMP and WISER
- Experience entering and submitting materials through external agency portals.
- History of successfully learning new systems and policies and sharing relevant information with colleagues

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
