(Onsite – 5 days per week for the first 6 months, hybrid 4 days thereafter) Assignment Type: Direct Hire (may consider Contract-to-Hire for candidates not currently employed) Compensation: $100,000 annually (no bonus or flexibility) Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (35-hour work week, additional hours as needed) Benefits: This position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k). Job Description Addison Group is partnering with a leading nonprofit in Washington, D.C., to identify a Manager of Accounting . This individual will oversee core accounting operations, ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting, and provide leadership within a collaborative finance team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced managing accounting functions in a nonprofit or education environment. Key Responsibilities: Supervise daily, weekly, and monthly financial reconciliations and analyses. Review and prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules for month-end close. Oversee accounting functions related to accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, debt, and regulatory filings. Coordinate with internal and external auditors and manage audit preparation activities. Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures, and reports for management and external agencies. Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders to support financial transparency and accountability. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control within accounting operations. Stay current with new accounting standards and assist in adoption and implementation where applicable. Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team while serving as a hands-on contributor. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in accounting or finance. Prior experience in a nonprofit or education organization required. Proficiency with large ERP systems such as PeopleSoft or Oracle highly preferred. Strong technical accounting knowledge with familiarity in GAAP compliance and financial statement preparation. Advanced Excel and analytical skills with high attention to accuracy and detail. Self-directed, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
