Seattle WA United States Starbucks Full time
Job Description

Are you interested in being part of a team that shapes the future of Customer and Retail technology at Starbucks? As a Program Manager, you will work with stakeholders to ensure the right programs, projects and work efforts are being done at the right time to maximize the company's investment.

In addition, to 7+ years of experience shipping large highly visible cross-functional programs, this role requires the ability to clearly link the organizational strategy to work efforts. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced individual contributor who is organized, able to lead in ambiguity and can seamlessly flex between strategic and tactical and influence at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic:

You will work with executive leadership, product management and business stakeholders to define the key outcomes of the strategies your portfolio, including how to measure the achievement of the outcomes.
You will work with product management, business stakeholders and engineering leadership to identify what technical capabilities can be built and/or leveraged (build vs. buy analysis) to realize these outcomes, including identifying dependencies, assumptions and risks that could impact realizing these outcomes.
You will quantify the enterprise value across a portfolio of initiatives, defining the customer, partner, and store outcomes.
You will create sustainable, repeatable templates and approaches for delivery across the portfolio.

Program Planning / Execution:

  • You will work with product management and engineering management to decompose capabilities into delivery workstreams.
  • You will bring vision by collaborating with dynamic stakeholders to define the program scope, deliverables, and critical path dependencies.
  • You will support ownership of your portfolio roadmap, bringing clarity to the team by helping develop schedules, planning delivery/coordination across multiple initiatives, owning portfolio budget, and resource planning.
  • You will bring alignment and transparency across to all stakeholders by implementing a governance and reporting structure.
  • You are a multi-tasker and can drive more than one project. You will look across your portfolio and identify interdependencies and help sequence work.
You bring people together and can collaborate across cross functional Technology and Business stakeholders. You will help drive alignment at the leadership (Director/VP level).
You make things happen by removing roadblocks and addressing future impediments now.
You bring energy to the program by inspiring optimism, creativity, shared commitment, and growth through times good and bad.

Financial Acumen:

  • You will be accountable for the budget of your portfolio – managing programs that are $15M+.
  • You will leverage your financial expertise to support defining program costs and securing program funding.
  • You sweat the details, but you focus the team on what is most important with management of schedule, budget, issues, and risks.
  • You have experience managing multiple SOWs, tracking invoices, and forecasts for resource planning.
  • You provide accurate and timely financial reporting to leadership (VPs+) on a regular basis for the state of your program

Leadership and Communication:

  • You lead by example – with compassion, courage, consistency, and confidence.
  • You create a team environment of trust, integrity, and positive collaboration.
  • You are flexible and can accommodate diverse personality styles and remain neutral and balanced in all interactions.
  • You can engage in difficult conversations that result in fact-driven, positive, actionable outcomes.
  • You are always ‘reading the room,’ to know what the best possible outcome is and to guide the conversation and team members accordingly.
  • You are a champion decision-maker that favors data, compromise, and alignment over consensus-building.

Skills (minimum skills required):

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a program manager in IT or a software development setting; must have at least ten years overall experience working in IT or a software development setting.
  • Experience using Agile methods and working on complex, integrated platforms required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Management preferred.
PMP, PgMP, and Scrum Master Certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

If you live in the greater Seattle area, we offer a flexible workplace that allows for hybrid work. Partners can work remotely up to two days per week.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
