They will provide mental health consultations to individuals/ families in the community who are needing some extra support. Building rapport with the individuals in service as well as community partners and referring to resources in our community is a large part of this position. The Addiction Recovery Mentor will provide mentoring services and supports across a wide variety of settings while collaborating with a larger team to ensure individuals receive quality services. G E N E R A L S T A T E M E N T O F D U T I E S Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellness-related issues. S U P E R V I S I O N R E C E I V E D Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. S U P E R V I S I O N E X E R C I S E D Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification. If an appointing authority assigns an employee to a full spectrum of lead worker duties, the county shall compensate the employee as described in the Marion County Personnel Rules. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following The incumbent in this position upholds confidentiality rules/regulations including H I P A A and 42 C F R Part 2. Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth; services may be delivered in the following locations, but not limited to office or in the community including settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services (e.g., P C C, schools, hospitals, jail, courtroom, residences including transitional treatment bed). The incumbent performs all of the following using a person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and ethically-guided approach. This position is stationed and dispatched from the Psychiatric Crisis Center. Builds rapport with persons served. Identifies the needs of persons served and their families; conducts outreach to engage persons who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports; assists persons served in reestablishing awareness of internal resources such as intelligence, competence, goal setting, and problem-solving abilities; identifies health and safety risks to self or others; applies crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills. Renders mentoring services and supports both in the office and in community settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services and supports; works within a team; collaborates with coworkers and community partners; assists persons served in accessing the resources they need to recover from substance abuse problems; provides case management and care coordination services; assists in making timely referrals to other professionals, agencies, community programs, or appropriate resources; evaluates outcome of referrals. Assists in removing barriers to success; creates and maintains positive relationships with community partners; advocates on behalf of persons served and in support of resource development. Provides outreach and engagement in partnership with peace officers and corrections professionals; determines and addresses immediate/crisis needs at the point of contact with peace officers and thereafter; ensures the safety and stability of persons served; identifies when there is a need for professional substance use disorders and/or mental health assessment by a qualified professional; assists with intake procedures; gathers information relevant to demographic, substance use/legal/incarceration history, physical and mental health, housing, and employment; prepares and updates case management plans; provides referral/case management/follow-up supports to assist persons served in acquiring benefits and services; prepares and maintains confidential records; monitors progress and collaborates with community partners; and inputs information into a web-based system in a timely manner. Documents services rendered in a timely, professional, clear, accurate, and complete manner and in accordance with timelines set forth in policy. Participates in team meetings and supervision; receives constructive feedback in an open manner; incorporates work quality improvements under the coaching of the supervisor. Provides back up to P C C by answering phones via logging into Touch Point. Other job duties as assigned by your supervisor. Requirements for the Position E X P E R I E N C E A N D T R A I N I N G High School diploma, or equivalent; A N D Two (2) years in recovery from substance use dependence. S P E C I A L R E Q U I R E M E N T S Must possess or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire, a current M H A C B O ( Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon) C R M certification ( Certified Recovery Mentor). The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position. This is a safety sensitive/special needs position. Final candidates selected for this position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana. P H Y S I C A L R E Q U I R E M E N T S Stands; sits; moves about the work area; operates a keyboard; climbs 1 floor of stairs; lifts, pushes, pulls and carries up to 5 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 10 lbs.; speaks with a clear and audible voice; reads a 12-pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; may work in areas exposed to heat, cold, humidity, and noise.
