Location: Rochester, MN Onsite (100%)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineering Technician II to join our team as a Test Lab Technician/Coordinator. In this role, you will support the day-to-day activities of our Reliability Test Lab, including loading and unloading drives, starting tests, and maintaining the lab. This position requires a high level of independence for debugging, repairing, and maintaining lab equipment, as well as coordinating with other teams to support FPE Rochester operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lab Support: Manage daily activities such as loading/unloading drives, starting tests, and general lab maintenance.
  • Equipment Management: Perform debug, repair, and maintenance of lab equipment. Maintain records for equipment calibration, inventory, and department purchasing.
  • Operational Readiness: Ensure the operational readiness of the Reliability Test Lab. Handle equipment setup, layout, design, and installation.
  • Shift Work: Ability to work graveyard shifts when collaborating with engineering teams in India and Israel.
  • Travel: Limited domestic and/or international travel as required.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for calibration, repairs, inventory, and ordering.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in an engineering/reliability test environment.

Skill Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters) and basic engineering skills (understanding schematics and layouts).
  • Physical Requirements: Dexterity and strength to handle 16x20 mm components, ability to lift up to 25 pounds to a height of 6 feet.
  • Software Skills: Basic PC usage (Windows/Mac, Office Products, mail clients).
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and state findings or problems effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong debugging, fault tracing, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle tasks independently and self-initiate improvements.
  • Organizational Skills: Capability to organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Linux.
  • Familiarity with PCIe/NVMe.
  • Experience in lab operations, equipment calibration, inventory management, and parts/supplies ordering.
  • Experience with SSD devices.

Basic Duties / Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Installation and setup of 16x20 mm BGA components and adapter boards.
  • Coordination, execution, and reporting of test setups.
  • Daily equipment checks to ensure operational status.
  • Fault tracing, debugging, and repair of equipment.
  • Upgrades and installations of equipment; coordination with facilities for new equipment.
  • Calibration and tracking of equipment; coordination with external services.
  • Inventory management, parts storage, and supply refresh.
  • Participation in internal department meetings and communication of equipment status and issues.
