About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assembly Technician to join our team at Benchmark Electronics. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for preparing products for systems-level assembly, ensuring that all necessary components are properly unpacked, set up, and assembled according to documented instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Access and verify necessary paperwork and drawings for each job assignment
  • Verify kits, enter batch lot information, package, and label accessory items according to documented instructions
  • Use appropriate mats and required tooling to ensure efficient and accurate assembly
  • Check equipment to ensure proper performance and make adjustments as needed
  • Use manufacturing routings and process instructions under close supervision to assemble complex systems integration subassemblies
  • Notify leadership of any shutdown situations and take corrective action to minimize downtime
  • Enter data into the Process Feedback System (PFS) and link subassemblies to final units
  • Enter quantities into Operations Complete (Baan) as required
  • Ensure the quality of your work to meet or exceed customer satisfaction
  • Assist Design Engineering and Product Engineering in prototype and pre-production builds
  • Work on complex assemblies and provide guidance to junior team members
  • May function as a backup to the Production Team Leader or Supervisor in their absence
  • Analyze problems in manufacturing and recommend solutions to engineering
  • Interface with customers or auditors as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of heavy mechanical assembly and SI repair of large and/or complex systems build
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring others
  • Good component recognition skills
  • Understanding of basic computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism when representing the company
  • Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
