We’re looking for a Government Relations Intern in Washington, D.C. to join us in fulfilling our mission, while utilizing our values of excellence, improvement, and connection. You will be part of the Government & Industry Relations (GIR) department reporting to the Manager, Government & Industry Relations and Enact PAC Director. As an intern of the GIR team, you will provide key support to help advance Enact’s public policy priorities in Washington, D.C. You will have the opportunity to meet with lawmakers, attend congressional hearings, meet industry personnel, and attend other meetings and political events. The main job functions for this internship will include: 1) office management; 3) Enact Political Action Committee (PAC) coordination; and 3) legislative, regulatory and other advocacy support to advance Enact’s public policy priorities. You will gain insight, knowledge, and valuable skills in a fast-paced Washington office. Enact GIR works with Congress, the Administration, industry partners and consumer groups to advance policy that helps Americans fulfill the dream of homeownership.


LOCATION
Enact Satellite Office – Washington, D.C. (hybrid schedule)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Office Management

  • Assist with management of DC office by ensuring office operations and procedures are organized, visitors are logged, and office maintenance is upheld

  • Assist in managing department budgets, work with internal finance to plan and carryout expenditures

  • Manage calendars and expenses

  • Coordinate with department vendors and consultants

PAC Coordination

  • Assist in developing and executing initiatives for the Enact PAC at the direction of the PAC Director           

  • Assist in the management of the day-to-day operations of Enact PAC including, but not limited to, processing contributions, recordkeeping in accordance with the Federal Election Commission guidelines, drafting communications, managing the disbursement budget, official reporting, and updating and maintaining PAC records

  • Working with vendors, candidate teams and fundraisers to carryout PAC operations

Advocacy Support

  • Attend meetings, congressional hearing and other political events

  • Conduct research and monitor relevant legislation to keep the government & industry relations team informed of industry activity and policy developments impactful to our business 

  • Develop content or assist with editing for advocacy efforts and other communications

  • Be a strong representative for Enact in Washington

  • Identify opportunities to build upon or create new relationships and alliances advance Enact’s policy priorities


YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current undergraduate student

  • 1-3 years of work or internship experience

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Desire to work in government relations, Capitol Hill, Administration or political campaigns

  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Outgoing with strong interpersonal skills

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desire to work in the insurance, banking, or financial services industries

  • Previous government relations, government, or political internship experience
