About the role
This position supervises a team of technical / business support and/or production / maintenance employees in Materials & Logistics and sets day-to-day activities involving storing and shipping products. Conducts inventory control and prepares reports and manuals.
The WarehouseSupervisor2nd shift (typical hours 2pm-10 pm) is responsible for all aspects of shipping, receiving, packaging and preservation, inventory control, logistics, training, planning, employee performance evaluations and problem solving in a warehouse operations environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage warehouse inventory and keep records of the inventory.
- Lead clerical team of indirect support team members; including but not limited to inventory, logistics, planning etc.
- Complete daily safety inspections.
- Track down units with quality issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Monitor yard trailer movement and radio communication.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and recommend measures to improve production.
- Partner with union leadership to quickly resolve issues and drive a high-performance culture.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and safety rules and regulations.
- Effectively manage hourly associates and achieve employee engagement objectives.
- Use Carrier Excellence tools to improve production processes and correct deficiencies as they occur.
- Ensure EH&S (Environmental Health and Safety) standards and administrative procedures are followed.
- Must be able to work all shifts in a 24-hour operation with weekend overtime as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of experience managing or supervising in a warehousing, production, and/or planning environment.
- Availability to work on the 2nd shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience motivating, coaching and leading hourly associates, preferably in a union environment.
- Proven leadership abilities that drive results with a sense of urgency.
- Supervisory experience in materials workforce or shipping/receiving operations with proven leadership skills and experiences.
- Result oriented with ability to multitask and handle deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles preferred.
- Demonstrate sound leadership skills with a sense of urgency to obtain results.
- Ability to effectively work cross functionally with various groups including Materials, Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics Center, Finance, HR, EH&S, etc.
- Proficient in the use of PC and software applications.
