Base pay range: $31.13/hr - $37.84/hr Job Title: Community Development Associate Effective Date: 03/24/2025 Reports to: Director of Development Pay Range: 31.13-37.84 Job Summary The Community Development Associate is responsible for supporting all CSC efforts around Community Development, an emerging body of work for Chief Seattle Club. This position is a balance of administrative support, project management, and external partnership management. This position reports to the Chief Community Development Officer and works closely with the Development team and Executive Director to support the vision of Chief Seattle Club. Essential Job Functions Supports administrative operations for Chief Community Development Officer (CCDO). Provides organizational support for externally-facing projects that serve the broad Native community. Provides project management to assorted community development efforts, including general partnerships exploration, arts inclusion & expansion (for all Club purposes), and other small projects as they arise. Serves as liaison between Community Development projects and intersections with CSC day-to-day operations when relevant. Serves as a point-of-contact for community partnerships for the organization. Helps to build the vision & structure for authentic community partnerships. Supports Community Development vision & implementation through partnership with Fundraising & Grants teams to support adequate resourcing of Community Development efforts. Budget: Support the CCDO to track the department budget across all divisions in the department. Relationships: Build relationships with staff and partners, conducting oneself with excellent customer service and respect for the members and partners of Chief Seattle Club. Provide administrative and technical support to other members of the Development Team, especially the data entry functions for fundraising and the organization as-needed. Maintain active engagement in promoting a safe work environment by following safety procedures and participating in required safety trainings relevant to their role. Perform other duties as the situation requires or as assigned by supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Education: Associate’s degree in Community Development, Urban Planning, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered; bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, nonprofit, or related field preferred. Must also have knowledge of and experience in planning, scheduling, and executing large and small events. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management. Knowledge of community development principles, grant writing, or nonprofit operations is a plus. Soft Skills Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills, diplomacy, and a non-judgmental, positive, problem-solving attitude. Demonstrated project management skills: exceptional attention to detail, time management, follow-through and ability to meet deadlines, communication, organization and planning. Ability to multi-task, switching between leadership roles and support roles as needed; adaptability and flexibility as agency priorities change. Ability to manage projects independently with little supervision and report on elements that need the Director’s attention. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Able to sit for long hours on the computer. Able to visit sites as-needed. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. (when handling paper supplies and deliveries). Occasional evening and weekend work to attend community events and meetings. Work is primarily performed in an office environment with regular visits to community locations. Must be able to travel locally to various community sites and partner locations. Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma.
