Life Science/Cancer Research Tools Business Development Associate - Boston

About the Role

CancerTools.org is seeking an additional Business Development Associate to join the team in our Boston MA office.

The Business Development Associate position is ideal for a recent life science graduate looking to transition from the lab bench to technology transfer, business development and management. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing the number of our academic research institute relationships across the US and associated research tools.


What you’ll do:

·      Liaising with inventing scientists and technology transfer offices to identify, assess and characterize new cancer tools

·      Sourcing new licensing and partner opportunities through scientific horizon scanning and account management strategies Onboarding new academic accounts and cancer tools through In-licensing agreement negotiation and closure

·      Liaising with CancerTools.org management, Finance, Legal departments, etc. as appropriate in areas such as contract management and agreement negotiation

·      Capturing, uploading and updating research tool and agreement information in Cancer Tools databases

·      Promoting the CancerTools.org brand and business by active on-campus outreach, conference attendance and social media communication

·      Reviewing scientific publications to update and supplement the technical data of our existing tools.

Opportunities include marketing, product management, sales and logistics, out-licensing to commercial organizations, and business management.

 

What you’ll need:

·      Bachelor's degree (MSc preferred) with relevant experience in life sciences

·      Must demonstrate a strong scientific background, especially in oncology, biology, biochemistry, or related field. Laboratory bench experience with cell biology, IHC, immunoassay, western blot, recombinant technologies, and/or mouse models preferred.

·       A past technology transfer or contract management role would be a plus

·      Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills including pitch presentations, leading meetings, and email writing.

·      Works well with diverse personalities and capabilities to effectively manage both internal and external stakeholder expectations

·      Ability to work independently, develop account management strategies, and manage timelines. Must make sound judgements in complex situations and adapt to changing business needs by prioritizing multiple tasks.

·      Organizational skill with superb attention to detail. Familiarity with databases and IP systems such as Inteum or Wellspring is a plus

·      Experience using CRM systems like HubSpot or Salesforce would be preferred

·      Willing to travel up to 30% of time, primarily throughout North America and mainly within the USA.
