Procurement Specialist - Defense Industry

Location: Norfolk, VA 23523

Duration: 06+ Months of contract with extension possible


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze purchase requisitions, initiate RFQs/RFPs, review bids, and select suppliers
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for materials and services
  • Procure complex materials, equipment, supplies, and services based on program-specific requirements
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with Business Area objectives
  • Manage supplier relationships throughout all phases of program execution
  • Ensure procurement compliance and conduct cost/price analysis
  • Support proposal preparation activities
  • Negotiate and manage purchase orders, including modifications and invoice issues
  • Advise management on contractual rights and obligations
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience, OR
  • Associate's Degree with 4 years of experience, OR
  • High School Diploma with 6+ years of equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with DoD industry & regulations
  • Experience buying across various commodities (electronics, mechanical, maintenance contracts, etc.)
  • Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations policies and procedures

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in operations, supply chain, negotiations, price analysis, or contract management
  • Familiarity with Cost Point purchasing system and Exostar
  • Curiosity and desire for continuous improvement
