Babbitting Service, Inc (BSI) is currently looking for a Shop Operations Manager for our Wellsville, NY location. The Shop Operations Manager will work daily within the machine shop managing the day-to-day activities on the floor and work closely with the Plant Manager.  


Key role responsibilities and expectations: 


  • Provide leadership and training for employees in all departments on the shop floor as needed.
  • Be responsible for the development of all shop personnel by assuring employees are properly trained using internal personnel or external schools or businesses. 
  • Prioritize workflow, keep job schedule on track, and delegate orders to the appropriate machine centers and machinists.
  • Knowledgeable and keep track of tooling usage, types of tooling, organization and will make recommendations for new tooling.
  • Responsible, review and recommend all purchases for shop supplies, work holding, and tooling prior to approval by Plant Manager.
  • Manage and supervise workforce to enforce and follow all BSI procedures and policies. 
  • Maintain awareness of all maintenance requests, machinery issues, and general building issues.
  • Familiar and follow the BSI Quality Management System and maintain the integrity of that system.
  • Review any quality discrepancies of the parts produced and help in determination if acceptable or not with the Quality team.
  • Work to maintain and continuously achieve high BSI Quality Objectives (KPI’s) by using effective and clear communicate with management.
            

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:


  • Previous machining experience with Manual and CNC turning and milling machines.
  • Experience with other machine types is a plus.
  • Previous Leadership experience a must.
  • Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Able to use measuring instruments.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Trade School or College Education is a plus.
