Our client, a government organization in Oakland, is looking for a Project Coordinator to join their Safety, Security, and Training Department. The Safety & Security Project Coordinator will work 50% with District Safety and Security staff and 50% with Director of Safety and Security on executive reports and analysis. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating directly with the Business Science Unit and with external vendors building out the Safety Management System data collection software, Vector Solutions (formerly Industry Safe).


RESPONSIBILITIES:Process and analyze safety-related data collected from the Business Sciences Unit and other departments within the district.
Analyze safety-related information to discover trends and patterns. Identify opportunities to develop mitigation strategies, initiatives and/or programs based on safety concerns.
Develop and create a repository of safety information on the SMS System.
Create data models to monitor the performance and quality of the safety program to address business compliance.
May act as chair of safety committees including the PTASP committee.
Recommend solutions to business challenges.
Lead and/or participate in safety-related working groups.
Support Director of Safety and Security on all executive administrative functions including staff reports, presentations, written plans, policies, and procedures.
Acts as administrative project manager for all safety and security initiatives and projects.
Prepare and distribute meeting minutes.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Participate and/or develop the requirements for databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques to provide ongoing reports.
Present the data models and trend/patterns analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
Analyze data and make operational recommendations from key safety and performance data (accidents, incidents, near misses, leading and lagging indicators).
Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or closely related field.
Two years of full-time working experience in a data analysis role using MS, Excel, R, Python, etc.
Must possess advanced-level MS skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
Bonus: Knowledge of, Tableau, Origami Risk, Industry Safe/Vector Solutions, Python and data visualization tools or other project management and data analytic tools.
Bonus: Experience with project management



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
