Caribou, ME - FT/Days - Temp-to-Hire Opportunity

Job Description:

Immediate need for a Utility Service Technician in Caribou. This position offers excellent daytime hours, competitive wages, and an attractive benefits package that includes PTO, paid holidays, health insurance and a retirement account. 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday; $18.00 - $21.00/hr.

The Utility Service Technician will assist with the repair and maintenance of local water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and be able to work well both independently and on team-based projects. Previous construction and/or maintenance experience strongly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, repair, and install water mains, valves, fittings, and meters.
  • Perform routine maintenance on fixtures connected to local water and wastewater systems.
  • Excavate areas to repair, replace, or install any equipment related to the distribution system.
  • Operate and maintain motor vehicles to transport workers, tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites.
  • Repair and maintain water valves and fire hydrants.
  • Assist in locating water valves and utility lines for maintenance.
  • Install and exchange water meters.
  • Organize materials for upcoming repair projects.
  • Assist with job site cleanup after maintenance and repairs are completed.
  • Keep accurate and organized records.
  • Assist and support other departments/divisions as needed.
  • Be on-call to respond to off-hour emergencies every other weekend.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Valid Class B driver's license or ability to attain Class B license after hire.
  • Previous utility, maintenance, or construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to move/lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Criminal background check, drug test and fitness test required.


Schedule: Full-time/Days; must be available to work on-call as needed.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
