Lead Solutions Engineer

As part of Chubb’s North America Solutions Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work with modern technologies such as GenAI and Cloud, while reducing existing technical debt and growing Chubb’s digital channels to drive positive impact to the business bottom line. As a Digital Solution Engineer at Chubb, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of technology solutions that meet the needs of the organization. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, software developers, and infrastructure teams, to define technical requirements and develop secure, scalable, resilient, and efficient solutions. You will also provide guidance and support to development teams throughout the software development life cycle.In this role, you will:Set the technical direction on specific projects by delivering implementable architecture designs that account for technology modernization in a practical and iterative way. Seek guidance or make balanced decisions that account for time-to-market, reduction of technical debt, supportability, and business needsCollaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand and document solution requirements and align business and technology roadmapsCollaborate across numerous agile teams to provide end to end solutions across multiple business domainsProvide architecture governance for solutions across the designated portfolio Provide solution direction in collaboration with delivery teams Guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles and best practices in areas such as UI/UX, integration, APIs and Micro Services, application and data security, DevSecOps, and Cloud environmentsDevelop and document secure, scalable, and resilient solution architecture designs aligned to Chubb’s global standards and strategies in support of Chubb’s digital transformation across the Small and Middle Market Commercial Insurance portfolio which meet functional, performance, and usability requirementsDefine application architecture and cloud migration / modernization roadmaps for the designated portfolioIdentify, evaluate, and integrate new data and technologies to meet business needsIntegrate data and intelligence to enable, automate, and optimize key processes such as risk identification, evaluation & selection; rating; user experience for customers, agents, and underwritersInfluence the roadmap and architecture of Chubb’s global platforms to enable new capabilities and align with business needsHelp research and prototype emerging technologies that advance digital transformationEnsure alignment and compliance with Chubb technology platform roadmaps, architectural principles, and standards

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent industry experience consideredAt least 10+ years of hands-on experience developing solution architecture designs including integration, security, and cloud. Must have an interest in continuing to partner with engineers at code/detailed design levelAt least 5 years of experience developing solution architecture designs for cloud native and hybrid applications (Azure preferred). Cloud certifications are a plusAt least 3 years of experience in UI frameworks like Angular (preferred), Node, React, etc.At least 3 years of experience working in agile organizations collaborating with Product Owners, Engineering Leads and other key Business, Operations, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders in a Scaled Agile frameworkExperience in the Insurance or Financial Services industry is preferred. An understanding of Insurance business domains, especially in commercial property and casualty space, is highly desirableAbility to guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles along with best practices in areas such as integration (API & Microservices), resiliency, data and application security, DevOps, and Cloud Experience with hands-on coding in a modern programming language (e.g. C#, Java, Python, etc.) and technologies such as .NET, Springboot, Camel, Kafka, MQ, JavaScript, Angular, Node.js, microservices, REST, SOAP, API Management/Gateway, Containers, Kubernetes, etc.Experience leveraging and integrating COTS and SaaS solutions. Experience with Insurance industry specific software such as Duck Creek, Insurity, etc. is a plusProven ability to apply modern design principals, practices, and patterns  Proven discipline in concurrently managing multiple initiativesExperience developing roadmaps outlining the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from current to future stateStrong relational and NoSQL database knowledgeStrong cloud (Azure preferred) experience in multiple areas from API Management, Kubernetes, Cosmos DB, App service, Azure functions, Redis cache etc.At least 1 year of DevOps/DevSecOps experience & familiarity with Jenkins or similar toolsAt least 2 year of experience using API testing tools like Postman/SOAP UI, etc.Team player with strong communication, problem solving, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skillsExperience working with global teams across North America and IndiaThe pay range for the role is $117,000 to $189,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
