Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineering Manager to lead our team in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure relational database and NoSQL solutions for Underwriting Solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Manage a globally distributed team of database engineers, providing hands-on management, mentoring, and coaching to drive organizational goals.
  • People Management: Oversee people management duties, including hiring, performance reviews, job requirements, interviewing candidates, staffing needs, assignments to team, review of work, growth opportunities for staff, and in-person/remote supervision.
  • Technical Expertise: Effectively communicate relational database and NoSQL engineering principles, best practices, architecture solutions, and infrastructure requirements to leadership, internal customers, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Database Administration: Lead the team in performing all aspects of NoSQL and relational database cluster administration, including planning, installation, upgrading, patching, security, high availability, and resiliency.
  • Architecture and Design: Drive the architecture of systems to provide a highly scalable, highly available relational and NoSQL database server structure that enables Underwriting Solutions' value proposition for internal and external customers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application development and other infrastructure teams to test, troubleshoot, and optimize new and existing database-driven applications.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor production, UAT, and other NoSQL and relational database environments across all applicable regions and actively pursue any issues limiting performance, resiliency, and scalability of these systems, fostering security and database reliability.
  • Infrastructure and Security: Understand relational and NoSQL database infrastructure architecture and needs, cost optimization goals, and security and compliance requirements.
  • Project Planning: Propose, design, and implement scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective relational and NoSQL database solutions meeting internal and external customers' objectives.
  • Communication: Engage with senior management, peers, and internal customers to plan and prioritize projects and resource allocation, and proactively communicate statuses, issues, and escalations to senior management and stakeholders.
