Genus Logistics is a customs brokerage company headquartered in New York at JFK International Airport.  

We provide customs clearance for imports and exports into and out of the US.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as an Import / Export Coordinator located in New York, NY. The Import Export Coordinator will be responsible for managing import and export processes, coordinating shipments, preparing documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and communicating with stakeholders.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all import/export shipments from point of pickup until arrival to the U.S. (FCL, LCL, and air freight)
  • Collect documents required for U.S. Customs clearance of household goods and vehicles
  • Check import and export paperwork to make sure they are complete
  • Provide relevant paperwork to Customs clearance broker in timely fashion
  • Solicit domestic and international shipping quotes, and rates from overseas agents
  • Track shipments regularly to ensure timelines are being met for Customs release and delivery
  • Coordinate delivery once shipments arrive to the U.S.
  • Responsible for reviewing appropriate documentation, confirm pieces, weights and dimensions of shipments and correctly labeling each shipment.
  • Advise Pickups and deliveries delays in a timely manner
  • Prepare BOL for pickups, deliveries, drop offs and recoveries at the airport, broker, vendor or client sites.
  • Maintain the highest level of attentiveness and responsiveness to clients and accounts
  • Develop working relationships with our partner agents and vendors overseas
  • Strong ability to multitask and meet various deadlines
  • Other duties as required


Requirements

  • Air Freight/Ocean Freight Forwarding and Logistics Experience: 1 year (Required)
  • Experience coordinating with over seas agents, freight forwarders, airlines, ocean carriers, trucking companies
  • Knowledge of customs import/export regulations and international trade processes
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for tracking shipments
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve issues efficiently
  • High School completion or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field
