About Us:

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital committed to providing compassionate and high-quality care to animals in their time of need. Our team of skilled professionals is dedicated to saving lives, and we are seeking a passionate Emergency Veterinary Technician to enhance our emergency services.

Key Responsibilities:

Triage: Perform an initial assessment to evaluate the patient's condition quickly. This includes checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from the pet owner about the situation. Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases. Venipuncture and IVC Placement: Proficiently perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement. Medication Administration: Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care. Maintain open communication with the healthcare team. Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, recognizing subtle changes in their clinical status and promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. Assist in Departmental Rounds. Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their furry family member requires after leaving the hospital. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including patient history, treatment details, and client communication. Assist with the completion of cost estimates. Anesthesia and Sedation Monitoring: Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia to ensure patient safety. Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images. Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics, correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify Veterinarian of results. Blood Transfusion Therapy: Including collection, administration, and transfusion reactions. Administering Oxygen: Flow-by Oxygen, Nasal Oxygen Cannula, or Oxygen Cage. Plus More

Compensation: $31 - $41 per hour. This range encompasses all potential earnings, including any additional incentives.

Shift Differentials: We offer enhanced pay rates for overnight and weekend shifts. However, these differentials are included within the overall $31 - $41 hourly rate range. Sign-On Bonus: Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000 This bonus is our way of welcoming talented individuals to our team and recognizing their expertise.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity, Overnight/3rd shift. 3 x 12 hour shifts. The idea of your schedule: Sunday- Wednesday, 8 pm- 6 am, or Thursday- Saturday, 6 pm- 6 am.

Requirements: Certified (or eligible) Veterinary Technician in Oregon.
