Manufacturing Technician (Mechanical)

Location: Onsite in Tampa, FL

Position Summary:

Manufacturing Technician performs hands-on electro-mechanical assembly and light fabrication tasks typically associated with the production and installation of simulation and training devices, or device modification kits, installed throughout the U.S. and abroad. A broad range of skills is required to produce, install, and/or modify simulation devices. While a single Manufacturing Technician is not expected to possess all the skills necessary to complete a device, they are an integral part of a team that does. This vacancy announcement is for a Manufacturing Technician specializing in mechanical fabrication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform build-to-print tasks using engineering drawings and associated lists combined with instructions documented on Job Tickets, Work Instructions, Installation Plans, etc.
Read and understand mechanical fabrication and assembly engineering drawings and parts lists.
Perform light fabrication using hand tools and/or prototype fabrication machinery/equipment (e.g., shear, punch press, press brake, saws, mill, lathe, welder, drill press, surface finishing, and paint).
Perform bench sub-assembly, upper-level device assembly, and device installation tasks using hand tools and moving/rigging equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

Experience:

Entry Level: 0 to 2 Years
Mid Level: 3 to 5 Years

Candidates should have some background experience with the production of electrical assemblies (e.g., cable assemblies, wired chassis) or mechanical fabrications/assemblies, preferably in a military production environment. Certification in specialty assembly practices such as soldering (J-STD, IPC), welding (AWS), etc., is preferred, or candidates must be willing to train and test to obtain the necessary certifications as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Level 1 Technician:

Knowledge of reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
Fabrication of cable assemblies.
Working knowledge of tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, and basic mechanical hand tools.

Level 2 Technician:

Knowledge of reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
Fabrication of cable assemblies and interconnect panels.
Soldering skills in conformance with IPC-610 standards.
Fabrication of panels, control linkages, and electronic cabinets.
