Senior Executive Business Partner, Office of General Counsel
2 months ago
Washington, D.C.
Founded in 2015 by Melinda French Gates, Pivotal expands opportunity and equality for all people through high-impact investments, philanthropy, partnerships, and advocacy. We accelerate social progress by removing barriers that hold people back.
We strive to be creative and innovative in our work and flexible in the approach we take to solving problems. To date, we have invested in over 150 organizations, including nonprofits, private sector companies, venture funds, and advocacy groups that are on the frontlines of the issues we work on. Some areas we currently focus on: women in technology and innovation; women in public office; women and girls of color; adolescent mental health; paid family and medical leave; and caregiving.
Inspired by our founder, we reach across communities and sectors to bring together changemakers who can scale up proven ideas and catalyze new ones. We learn from their experiences, amplify their resources, then step back so they can lead.
Our impatience with the status quo is fueled by an optimism that progress is always possible.
We are seeking a Senior Executive Business Partner (Sr. EBP), Office of General Counsel, to provide high-level strategic and administrative support to the Sr. Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and manage assigned workflow processes that flow in and out of the Office of General Counsel team.
In this role, the Sr. EBP will support the Chief Legal Officer across their full range of work—organizational leadership, internal collaboration, team management, and external relations—ensuring follow-through, prioritization, increased bandwidth and effective coordination of all engagements, work products, communications, scheduling, and travel. The Sr. EBP will also take primary responsibility for team coordination and communications work, including fostering a cohesive and supportive team culture through thoughtful meeting and retreat planning; developing internal communications and information-sharing resources (e.g. quarterly updates, Pivotal intranet site); and providing proactive problem solving, time programming, and strategic counsel.
The Sr. EBP will serve as Chief Legal Officer’s proxy when appropriate and will work with the Chief Legal Officer to program their time to support the Office of General Counsel team (which includes Grants Management and Contracts) and its impact. This role requires top notch organizing and planning capacities, oral and written communication skills, proven expertise to build partnerships and strategic relationships, an ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality, strong judgment and decision-making skills, and a strategic mindset. Additionally, the Sr. EBP will be an integral member of the Office of General Counsel team, ensuring seamless integration and support across all legal functions. The Sr. EBP should be comfortable juggling multiple tasks and priorities as a part of the Office of General Counsel team, including tracking work assignments. The Chief Legal Officer will look to the Senior EBP to help them set their priorities and advance the team’s agenda.
