This is a career reserved position and will be filled on a career basis.

Job Summary:

The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted advisor and resource to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) leadership, staff, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will provide oversight and executive leadership for various assignments, develop and execute strategic plans, and collaborate with senior leaders to achieve target enterprise performance goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the OIG leadership team
  • Develop and execute comprehensive oversight programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop complex work products and communicate results to stakeholders
  • Represent the OIG in dealings with Department-level managers, other governmental departments, and Congressional committees
  • Provide close coordination with high-level representatives to resolve conflicts and facilitate the accomplishment of OIG priorities
Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
  • Complete a one-year probationary period in the Senior Executive Service (SES) under career status
  • Public Trust Background Investigation required
  • Have salary sent to a financial institution of choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer

OPM Certification:

An initial appointment to an SES position is contingent on approval from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Review Board unless the selectee has successfully completed an OPM approved SES Candidate Development Program.

Veterans' Preference does not apply to the Senior Executive Service.

Executive Branch agencies are prohibited by law from accepting or considering political recommendations.
