Our Clinics provide specialized Orthopedic care to adult patients. We serve patients throughout their diagnostic and surgical journey. We are proud to have several of our surgeons regionally recognized as top doctors in their specialty
Our team of RNs, Athletic Trainers, LPNs, and CMAs work collaboratively to their full scope of practice. Joining our team will mean you have chosen a team of colleagues who is passionate about serving patients and each other. Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday 7:30-5:30pm.
The Orthopedic Bone Health Nurse Program Coordinator is a vital role within the Orthopedic Department, focusing on the development, coordination, and management of both clinical and administrative aspects of the Bone Health Program. This position requires a blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and administrative acumen to ensure the program's success and smooth operation.
Here's a more structured overview of the role:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development & Coordination:
o Design, implement, and refine clinical and administrative processes for the Bone Health Program.
o Coordinate the delivery of clinical care across various locations to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
o Oversee the scheduling and logistical operations of Bone Health clinics, ensuring availability and access for patients.
2. Clinical Support & Collaboration:
o Work closely with clinical teams to provide direct care, including assessing and managing patients with bone health conditions (e.g., osteoporosis, fractures, etc.).
o Collaborate with medical providers (e.g., physicians, nurse practitioners) to ensure coordinated patient care.
o Provide education and support to patients regarding bone health, prevention strategies, and treatment options.
3. Leadership & Administrative Management:
o Serve as the administrative and clinical leader of the Bone Health Program, supporting its integration with the larger orthopedic division.
o Act as a liaison between the Bone Health Program and various stakeholders, including the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and other clinical leaders.
o Manage staffing, resources, and patient flow to optimize service delivery.
4. Research Support & Data Management:
o Support research initiatives within the Bone Health Program, ensuring that clinical data is collected, tracked, and reported appropriately.
o Stay updated on the latest evidence-based practices in bone health to inform program development and patient care.
o Contribute to publications or presentations regarding the Bone Health Program's clinical or research efforts.
5. Patient Education & Advocacy:
o Educate patients on bone health management, including lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and exercise programs.
o Advocate for patients' needs within the healthcare system and work to address any barriers to care.
6. Quality Improvement:
o Monitor program performance and patient outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
o Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Bone Health Program.
o Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in orthopedics, bone health, or a related clinical area.
* Leadership experience, preferably in a program or coordinator role.
* Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills.
* Experience in program management, including scheduling, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams.
* Knowledge of evidence-based practices and research in bone health.
* Ability to develop educational materials and deliver patient education.
Collaboration:
* Director of Nursing: Work closely with to ensure alignment with overall nursing strategies and objectives.
* Medical Director: Collaborate with to integrate clinical care strategies, research, and treatment protocols.
* Vice President: Coordinate with to ensure strategic alignment of the Bone Health Program within the broader goals of the Orthopedic Department.
This role is crucial for ensuring that patients receive comprehensive, coordinated care in managing bone health issues and that the Bone Health Program continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of both patients and clinicians
Essential Job Statements
* Follows documented physician/licensed provider orders, within the boundaries of the Nurse Practice Act, licensure, and established standards, policies, and practice guidelines. Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources
* Maintains oversight of provider schedules for ambulatory to ensure seamless coordination of patient care. Assist and plans for provider and staff coverage, meeting the needs of patients. This includes developing systems for escalation for clinic, triage, infusion, and diagnostic services.
* Collaborates in development, implementation, communication, and monitoring of the multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary plan of care for post fracture patients.
* Collaborates to provide team member training and education related to Osteoporosis related fractures. Assists with the documentation processes and educational offerings necessary to maintain the Own the Bone Certification.
* Coordinates outpatient scheduling visits, diagnostic testing, etc. with healthcare team and collaborates with nursing staff in the formulation of plans of care and education of patient/family regarding patient plan of care. Ensures patients are seen at the correct location based on acuity and patient specific plan of care.
* Provides supervision and oversight for the Bone health specialty program, serves as the clinical and administrative lead for all meetings related to the program.
* Understand and adhere to all IRB requirements, and Human Subjects protection regulations Develop and provide IRB approved patient-oriented information for research studies
* Leads and coordinates activities and organization initiatives for the management of orthopedic fracture across the continuum of care including development of new services related to bone health.
* Incorporates data analytics to inform Bone health team, anticipates needs of team and patients using analytics. Example: Injection protocols
* Educates clinic staff on research protocols, provides staff in-services on research topics as needed.
* Ensure responsibility and visible commitment of patient-centered programs/initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across the health system.

Demonstrates knowledge and related competencies of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age, specific needs and to provide the equitable care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Employment Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
Licensure/Certification Required:
Current Registered Nurse license, BLS Certification.
Licensure/Certification Preferred:

Minimum Qualifications
Years and Type of Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience.
Preferred experience with a focus in Orthopaedics or Osteoporosis.
