Kinship Care Coordinator

Location: Hiawatha - This position has a hybrid work schedule. Paperwork and logs may be done at home, however the position is primarily in the community completing home visits, supporting families, and includes an on call rotation.
Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in social work, community counseling, human development, child and family development, applied family and youth services, public health, health sciences, trauma studies, sociology/social services, substance abuse/addictions, early childhood, education, or psychology from an accredited college/university.
Experience: Previous experience in children and family services preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current, valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance required.
Essential Duties:
- Build a safe, family-centered child welfare system in Kansas, using evidence-based practices.
- Train staff on kinship care and community resources to support placements.
- Enhance community understanding of kinship care.
- Assist with complex cases and attend all Temporary Custody and case planning hearings.
- Conduct initial walkthroughs, home study assessments, background checks, and required paperwork for kinship placements.
- Educate kinship caregivers on reunification efforts and setting boundaries with parents.
- Complete adoption home studies and develop safety plans as needed.
- Facilitate monthly Kinship Group meetings and participate in community kinship care groups.
- Support kinship placements in obtaining financial assistance and resources.
- Provide crisis management and ongoing support for placements.
- Offer in-home services to clients and families.
- Maintain communication with DCF, courts, and community partners.
- Document all client interactions and complete case activity logs.
- Attend all required trainings.
