Department Overview

The Corporate Affairs organization supports the company by providing regulatory expertise, managing the development, approval and implementation of regulatory filings, rates and tariffs, and advocating the business needs to our stakeholders and regulators. Regulatory Proceedings leads the business in achieving company goals by working with regulators and other stakeholders. Today’s business needs require innovative thinking and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Position Summary

You will be responsible for managing regulatory proceedings and reports associated with the Commission’s Risk-Based Decision-Making Framework, including the company’s General Rate Case. This includes ensuring compliant and high-quality showings, and   stakeholder engagement.  This includes the development and review of case materials, potentially acting as an expert witness, taking on special projects or initiatives, and constantly seeking process improvement and waste elimination opportunities.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $122,000
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000

 

Job Responsibilities

- Assigned complex cases with significant financial impact or high visibility, specifically the General Rate Case or other proceedings, as assigned by leader.
- Independently manage the assigned regulatory process, collaborating and utilizing director and other leaders as necessary.
- Develop relationships to collaborate externally with stakeholders to further the company’s objectives.
- May serve as expert witness, including preparation of testimony, discovery, and work papers.
- Review and assist subject matter experts with development of testimony, work papers and discovery responses, settlement documents and communications materials; anticipate and understand the impact and proactively address issues.
- Evaluate and develop recommendations on cost recovery, ratemaking, customer programs and tariffs; continually look for and recommends process improvements.
- Ensure all compliance items are identified, tracked, monitored and implemented.
- Review and summarize proposed decisions and other regulatory filings; considering the impact of a case developments on the company as a whole, provide insight into implications and make recommendations of possible courses of action relating to case comments and/or proposed decisions; and recommend changes in case strategy resulting from anticipated or unanticipated decisions, developments, comments.
- Partner with director, leaders in client line of business, Legal, and other stakeholders to develop case strategy and resolve issues; utilize knowledge of utility industry practices and/or benchmarks with industry peers; and effectively communicate case strategy or policy issues with company management or with outside parties.
- Frequently deal with contacts at various state agencies to gather information or to help advocate for the assigned cases; utilize expert level knowledge to ask effective questions to add value to the overall case strategy and management; and help coach, mentor, and direct less experienced peers.
- May present at industry conferences and regulatory meetings.
 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:
- 7 years of relevant experience, such as regulatory/policy, finance, law, project or case management, engineering, analysis, communications or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

-  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical, and project management skills.

-  Strong public speaking and presentations skills to effectively communicate to various levels of employees, including senior leadership
-  Demonstrated ability to analyze regulatory documents and understand implications to company
-  Strong influence and persuasion skills with leadership
-  Strong coaching and mentoring skills
-  In depth knowledge of the CPUC and key contacts
-  Demonstrated ability to use understanding of regulatory environment to drive strategic decision making
- Deep knowledge of industry, line of business, and relevant regulations
