SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Manages the daily operations of the unit. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring all applicable regulatory requirements are met. Responsible for coordination of all production and maintenance activities within the Unit as well as assists in the execution of plant improvement efforts including usage and energy consumption reductions, yield improvements, waste minimization, occupancy increases, and safety and environmental compliance improvements.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages production and reliability staff, including the training of personnel.
  • Develops production schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers.
  • Ensure the safety and safe work performance of employees.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Provide daily leadership for supervision and operating/maintenance employees.
  • Responsible for weekly prioritization of operations and maintenance activities.
  • Issuance of safe work permits for confined space, hot work.
  • Operate within budgetary constraints while meeting production and product quality goals.
  • Troubleshoot process operating issues and product quality issues.
  • Maintain focus on longer-term operational issues.
  • Communicate plant issues affecting yard wide operations as needed.
  • Train and develop all technical and operating personnel, ensuring adequate systems and procedures are in place for employees to receive required certifications.
  • Define operational needs in order to improve safety and environmental compliance, reduce usages and energy consumption, improve yields, minimize waste, increase occupancy, and lower costs.

  • Possess excellent communication skills with a strong desire to learn/teach
  • Ability to manage personal time to coordinate/track large quantities of work and be available to respond to plant needs
  • Ability to interface with operators and maintenance technicians to resolve processing problems.
  • Individual must be a critical thinker, problem solver, personnel motivator, and ability to find innovative solutions.
  • Individual must be able to anticipate potential roadblocks and develop alternate strategies for safe and cost effective execution of tasks.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, or related.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, or related.
  • Knowledge of process operations.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training in leadership, coaching, teambuilding
  • Previous leadership experience with knowledge of maintenance and production planning preferred.


EDUCATION:

  • Minimum Required: High school diploma required
  • Preferred: Post high school education including Bachelor or Master level degrees preferred
