JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Information Security Specialist

Reports to: Craig Hanrahan

The Information Security Specialist will be involved in multiple aspects of supporting and managing the cybersecurity program with the goals of reducing risk and driving continuous maturity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Assist in incident response
Monitoring systems security and responding to security incidents
Participating in security systems testing
Ensuring integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data
Preventing and detecting intrusion
Incident containment and remediation recommendations
Conducting log file analysis
Monitor tech and cyber trends, news and emerging threats and regularly update staff

BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Willingness to pursue INFOSEC certifications
Must have strong ability to build trust and keep information confidential
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow incidents to their conclusion
Ability to react to high pressure, changing environments
Have the coping skills necessary to work through stressful situations
A high level of interest in information security and a desire to learn
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
CompTIA A+ and Security+ certifications a plus
Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and ISO
Knowledge of security platforms such as firewalls, EDR, IPS/IDS, Spam filtering, etc
Awareness of information security and IT risk management principles.
Basic understanding of assessments of IT related processes such as system and information security, system development and change management, computer operations and data protection.
Basic understanding of specific information security disciplines such as forensics, secure development, threat intelligence or penetration testing.

EDUCATION:

Associate degree or relevant experience
