Our client is currently seeking an Information Security Operations Engineer to join their team onsite in Andover, MA. This resource will be involved in multiple aspects of supporting and managing the cybersecurity program with the goals of reducing risk and driving continuous maturity. The focus of the position will be on responding to threats that the client devices and users around the world face, identified through technologies and proactive actions. Security Operations Engineers in this role investigate alerts such as malware detections and suspicious activities, provide expert analysis to client internal customers, and lead response activities when an event becomes a security incident.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs Level 2 / 3 security operations and incident response duties

  • Performs network and endpoint forensics to establish attack scope and root cause analyses

  • Ensures communication and escalation of security activities to leadership

  • Performs additional analysis of escalations from SOC team members and conducts incident review

  • Performs development of workflow automation to lower response time and eliminate lengthy response times

  • Develops and improves attack remediation strategies, incident handling processes, standard operating procedures, playbooks, and automations

  • Identifies alerting gaps and develops strategies to increase threat detection coverage

  • Supports ISO27001, SOC, HITRUST, and other audit activities for security operations and incident response

  • Responds to incidents on both cloud and on-prem applications
  • Participates in external and internal penetration tests conducted by third parties

  • Provides onboarding training and coaching for junior SOC / IR team members

 
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or relevant experience

  • Minimum 3 to 5+ years of Security Operations / Incident Response experience

  • Willingness to pursue INFOSEC certifications
  • Must have strong ability to build trust and keep information confidential

  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and efficiently across technical and non-technical audiences, display active listening skills, and communicate effectively and efficiently

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow incidents to their conclusion

  • Have the coping skills necessary to work through stressful situations

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to lead an Incident Response Team and respond to emergency calls during non-business hours, as needed

  • Possess the ability to react quickly, decisively, and deliberately

  • Proactive, self-managed, and able to interface well with interdisciplinary teams across the organization, including executive leadership

  • Experience performing analysis utilizing SIEM and SOAR technologies

  • Experience performing analysis utilizing IDS / NGAV / Firewall consoles

  • Experience with cloud computing and AWS and Azure services

  • Strong understanding of networking and associated protocols

  • Strong experience with multiple operating systems

  • Experience with MITRE Telecommunication & CK and Cyber Kill Chain, including Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)

  • Development skills including scripting (e.g., Python, shell scripting)

  • Knowledge of STIX / TAXII, SIGMA, DISA STIGs

  • Experience with Security Threat Modeling
