Position Description: The LAH Mechanic is responsible for the safe and proper maintenance of the LAH trucks used for the operation of hauling liquid asphalt. We require that they be committed to the total team effort by contributing to the proper completion of the work as directed by their supervisor.

Responsibilities:

Proper maintenance of truck, including tire pressures, fluid levels, and lights.
Check all equipment regularly, execute preventative maintenance and effectively communicate to operator, foreman or equipment manager of any operating deficiencies.
Troubleshoot problems on equipment properly and effectively with minimum downtime - mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs.
Set up and operate equipment.
Adheres to all safety rules and maintains good housekeeping (5S) in shop area.
Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures
Diagnoses and repairs equipment in our maintenance facilities, and in the field.
Completes all required reporting for service time in an accurate and efficiently; this includes writing service reports, properly allocating time to each job, and tracking parts charged and parts returned.
Meeting all safety requirements (including toolbox talks, man lift inspections, submitting incident reports, Lockout/Tag out, Confined Space entry, PPE, etc.)
Must arrive on time at job site and make sure supervisor is contacted if you have problems.
Must keep all hand tools, equipment and supplies stored properly, organized and clean.
Maintain proper documentation of time, preventative maintenance and repairs
Realize that there is sometimes a state of urgency in my duties, however, nothing so important as to forget proper safety procedures.
Keeps maintenance facility and LAH mechanic informed of equipment problems.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements: Skills:

Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License, Class A, with airbrakes, Tanker and HazMat endorsement
Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must possess a clean driving record

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma
CDL License and Driving experience, a plus
Experience in maintenance of commercial motor vehicles
Maintenance of Tanker Vehicles is preferred

Work Environment/Physical Abilities:

The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of LAH Mechanic functions.
