Senior SEM Manager


Fundamental Media is looking for a skilled professional to join our dynamic and enthusiastic Boston office, joining a Search Engine Marketing team delivering standout performance, insights and analytics to a range of clients in the Finance and Higher and Business Education industries.


The Role


The Sr. SEM Specialist’s advanced skills in search engine marketing, project management and communication make them a vital contributor to the success of the SEM team.


As an Sr. SEM Specialist, you will help execute high-level account campaign strategies into optimizations which directly affect campaign performance and team success. You will regularly analyze and interpret data, discover and address opportunities, collaborate on campaign strategy with clients and the SEM team, formulate and test hypothesis as well as give critical insights on campaign activity and performance. At least 3 years of experience working in a similar role as a Search Account Specialist or Marketing Analyst on biddable media campaigns is required.

A Sr. SEM Manager consistently displays a positive attitude and level of team service which not only drives themselves, but everyone in their sphere to succeed. This includes taking initiative in not only their own personal and career development but encouraging their team’s as well.​

A high level of proficiency in working with all Google & Bing Ads products, Google Analytics 4, as well as Excel & Google Sheets as it relates to SEM is required. Experience managing a team is a plus, as this role will have direct reports. This role reports to and works closely with the Director of Search Marketing.

Core Responsibilities


  • Assists SEM Director with development of search strategy, services and offerings on SOWs, SALs, & client prospect pitch presentations.
  • Gathers and organizes all internal reports as requested and presents them to SEM director​.
  • Serves as collaborative partner with SEM director on SEM strategy, team optimization and new business opportunities​.
  • Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, and training process of new SEM team prospects​.
  • Leads regular check-in meetings with SEM manager(s) to review internal monthly and quarterly account data insights reporting​.
  • Ensures account managers are following all FM standards & processes​.
  • Introduces and leads new search, marketing, or media related strategies or products that can lead to account performance improvement.
  • Helps plan and organize SEM team building, lunches, and after-hours activities (if in working out of the Boston office).​


As an ideal candidate you will have:


  • 3+ years of experience working in a similar SEM, Biddable Media or Marketing Analyst role.
  • An interest and passion in analysing your campaigns and pushing for the best outcome.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Awareness of media trends and avid interest in business and finance.
  • Experience managing a small team and leading by example.
  • Demonstrable ability to make sensible, intelligent decisions in difficult and deadline driven situations.
  • A passionate approach to tasks with a can-do attitude – committed to upholding professional standards while being flexible and self-motivated.
  • Asset management and higher education knowledge as it relates to SEM.
  • High level of proficiency working with all Google & Bing Ads products, Google Analytics 4, Excel, and Google Sheets.
