Director of Business Development (Columbus, OH)

We are currently seeking an individual that has proven experience generating prospective sales leads, developing strong relationships, and establishing commitments with The Douglas Company to establish a satellite office in Columbus, OH. This position will be based out of Columbus, OH.

Position Synopsis
This position is responsible for building a local reputation in the industry, bringing qualified negotiated opportunities to the company, maintaining positive relationships in the community, assisting the team with closing sales, and monitoring and coordinating of new marketing plans.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Identify prospective clients through research, phone calls, networking, industry trade shows and face-to-face meetings
  • Participate in local boards, committees, networking groups, etc. to build and maintain a local brand reputation
  • Market to prospective clients (print advertisements, flyers, email campaigns, etc.)
  • Presenting and selling our "team approach" method of providing preconstruction and construction services to prospective clients
  • Develop and maintain a relationship built on mutual trust and respect with prospective clients
  • Gain a commitment from prospective clients to work with The Douglas Company
  • Maintain accurate records of clientele and business development activity in CRM database
  • Work directly with the Toledo-based Director of Business Development and Marketing and Branding Lead
  • Coordinate submission of RFQs and RFPs
  • Facilitate, organize and attend business development related company events
  • Operate as a one-person office and handle basic administrative duties associated with being the sole employee in a new market.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of proven experience in a Sales or Business Development role
  • Established reputation in the construction and real estate industry in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area
  • Complex, relationship-based sales experience
  • Experience in high-value sales with a long sales cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

Additional Information
Competitive salary, benefits, and financial incentives are offered. Work will include up to 50% travel, but the goal of this position is to establish a foothold for our company in the Columbus market.
