Adventist Healthcare seeks to hire an experienced Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Senior Executive, you must be an active and in good standing member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church to ensure we are leading and living by our mission and ministry.

As a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer you will:
• Direction and administration of the financial operations of Adventist HealthCare, including development, interpretation, coordination, and administration of the organization's policies on finance, accounting, reimbursement, supply chain, internal controls and auditing, entity CFOs.
• Maintenance of records and procedures required to adequately safeguard the assets of the hospitals.
• The CFO participates as a member of the senior leadership team and serves as Chief Financial advisor to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
• Develops financial alternatives/strategies, provides oversight on all business plans and transactions, following trends to provide guidance in financial issue problem solving with the Board, Medical Staff and Administration.
• The CFO participates in strategic planning and operational planning, in alignment with the organization s objectives and financial business plan.
• Provides advice and counsel to the CEO on business operations, strategic planning and financial management.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to tax laws, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), federal acquisition regulations (FAR), and cost accounting standards (CAS).
• Plans, directs and controls the organization's overall financial plans and policies, accounting practices, and relationships with lending institutions, shareholders and the financial community.
• Participates in strategic operational planning in concert with the organization s goals that contribute toward population health/clinical effectiveness initiatives, new business development, Global Budget Revenue management, cost containment and maximizing productivity.
• Establishes an integrated financial plan of operation (short and long-term) compatible with the healthcare organization s objectives. Prepares annual operating and capital budget for Board approval. Prepares monthly reports to management and the Board that summarizes major variances from budget.

• Directs such functions as treasury, budgeting, tax, accounting, insurance activities and various financial administrative functions for the organization and its subsidiaries.
• Oversees development of and coordinates necessary and appropriate accounting and statistical data reports.
• Directs the establishment and maintenance of the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures for the maintenance of its fiscal records and the preparation of its financial reports.
• Reviews, interprets, analyzes, and communicates financial reports and data to leadership, and the Board of Directors, with the use of financial ratio analysis, critically measures the organization s financial position. Serves as staff to Board Finance Committee.
• Appraises operating results in terms of costs, budgets, operating policies, trends, and increased profit opportunities.
• Provides management with a review of accounting, financial and other operations by measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of accounting and management controls.
• Assures the Board and CEO of the adequate internal controls and provides testing of such controls with disclosure to the CEO and the Board.
• Reviews, interprets, analyzes, and communicates financial reports and data to leadership, and the Board of Directors, with the use of financial ratio analysis, critically measures the organization s financial position. Serves as staff to Board Finance Committee.

Qualified candidates will possess:
•Well-prepared academically, with a graduate degree in business administration, accounting, or finance, and/or hold the CPA credential are preferred.
•Candidates must have 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a complex, multi-institutional healthcare system with at least $800 Million in annual net revenue; experience with innovative strategies and solutions beyond traditional primary, acute and tertiary care is strongly preferred, particularly within markets with difficult reimbursement and payor environments.
•Candidates must have 10 years of experience as a CFO within a large hospital or health system environment; additionally, candidates must have demonstrated success in leading an organization through substantive change, even "disruptive" change, candidates with experience in a regional hospital system are highly desired.
•Strategic skills are required along with the demonstrable ability to articulate, generate enthusiasm for, and implement a broad vision.
•A management style which is fair, consistent, open, and inclusive, but emphasizes accountability and measures results. Must demonstrate the ability to make decisive decisions, sometimes quickly and with a sense of urgency.
•Strong leadership/influencing skills are required, with the ability to work effectively within the organization to impact, direct and hold accountable senior leadership to achieve results in a dynamic, changing environment.
•Ideally, have a working knowledge of the unique and challenging Maryland healthcare reimbursement environment preferred.

• A creative, pragmatic problem solver who is energized by challenges and change and identifies untapped opportunities to capitalize on within the organization.

• A demonstrated high level of integrity; guided by a sound set of ethical principles.
