Job Description

We are currently seeking a proven, high-energy and self-motivated Equipment Specialist/Service Technician to support Chemical Monitoring Solutions (CMS) Water Technologies & Solutions sales force and end customers. The role entails supporting our process chemical monitor & control chemfeed equipment product line. This product group includes standard low volume metering feed pumps (solenoid, diaphragm, belt driven and peristaltic), proprietary and third-party controllers, and monitoring systems related to other associated process control equipment for both heavy and light industry applications.

The Field Service Engineer (primarily supporting AL/TN and northern MS/GA/SC) will report to the North American Field Services Leader, led by the Regional Lead. He/She will provide necessary support for chemical feed equipment, engineering activities including scope-outs, system commissioning, programming, calibration, project execution, onsite training,
post installation troubleshooting and second tier repairs for equipment used to dose and control chemicals to water & process application streams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Customer site scope-outs to assist sales teams in technical review and recommendations while delineating roles and responsibilities for installations.
  • Leading and performing electrical and mechanical installation of components required for final tie-ins to applications in the field at customer sites, while adhering to plant and company environmental, health and safety concerns.
  • Commissioning, configuring provided equipment, programming controllers, then validating dynamic Chemical feed equipment operation on startup by calibration, validation, verification, in the safest manner possible and provide ongoing hardware/software support.
  • Determining onsite support documentation & parts lists and providing end use training to commercial and customer teams regarding operation and preventative maintenance of all related equipment/instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems for customers and/or the field sales force via remote support technologies or on-site at customer locations. Resolving issues by repairing and/or calibrating instruments in accordance with designated O&M manuals
  • Proactively reaching out and coordinating with CMS Field Service Representatives and/or the appropriate CMS Account Management team to optimize applications or resolve service calls issues in a timely manner.
  • Keeping up to date with all Technical and Operational skills pertaining to this position, including all applicable safety procedures while meeting end customer requirement and expectations.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in performing all test and calibration routines required, as well as procedures for on-site services and Database management.
  • Ensuring all administrative duties and protocols are followed completed within prescribed timelines.
  • Clearly demonstrate a safety mindset in actions, performance, discussions, and reports.


Qualifications

Qualifications and requirements

  • Technical degree/diploma in Electrical, Electronic Technology, Instrumentation and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Instrumentation and Electronics (I&E), or plant operations/maintenance experience, OR at least 2 years of relevant training (college, military, technical/vocational school), in Instrumentation and Electronics, working with 120VAC and low voltage, analog and digital communication, installation and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical aptitude for installations, mounting equipment, plumbing, conduit, tubing in PVC, SS, and copper.
  • Fundamental computer programming skills, Boolean and comparative logic.
  • Strong technical, cognitive ability to logically troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Responsible for complying with all safety, health, environmental policies and procedures relevant to the position.
  • Ability to work in multiple environments, indoor/outdoor in variety of industries, including Class 1 div 2 hazard classifications.
  • General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry and safety. Visual, manual dexterity to competently service instruments and electrical equipment. Ability to learn applicable company procedures within a reasonable time from start of employment.
  • Willing to travel 50% or more.
  • Proven organizational, time management skills, demonstrating ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem-solving abilities with an unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments.
  • Proven ability to speak effectively before groups and customers, clients, and other employees within the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency is required with at a minimum, word processing and spreadsheets, and basic data base knowledge.


Desirable qualifications

  • Familiarity of digital communications including MODBUS, OPC, ProfiNet, networking, cellular communications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects in a sales environment via strong technical support.
  • Understanding of Water Treatment processes, controls and programming, and chemical applications
  • Ability to make good business decisions based on risk reward analysis and Suez's business objectives
