The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Inspector is to perform QA/QC inspections to ensure critical materials and engineered equipment purchased meet or exceed our customer's and contract quality and workmanship expectations
Roles & Responsibilities
- Have a working understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment related to fabrication, testing, and functionality.
- Be able to read and understand equipment specifications, and drawings, provide feedback regarding recommended testing and inspections
- Communicate inspection results, both verbally and written, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
- Highly skilled and experienced in written and verbal communications including leading pre-fabrication meetings, creating pre-fabrication checklists, writing inspection reports
- Inspection and Test Plans: Assistance and agreement with the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's)
- NDT reports: The study and cognizance of NDT results on any welding work for which the welding inspector is responsible. Where the duties of the welding inspector include using NDT methods such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography, or ultrasonic inspection then it is suggested that he/she obtains certification following the related approval schemes.
- Reports: Evaluation of and preparation of inspection reports for the employer or the client.
Minimum Requirements
- CompEx Certification
- More than 5 years experience as an Ex inspector in performing Ex inspection on Ex rated equipment, experience in installation, termination, commissioning, and operation of electrical system
- Structural Steel / Pipe inspection experience
- Third-Party Vendor Surveillance experience
- Must have a broad working knowledge of all design/craft disciplines and plant equipment/materials associated with Energy and Industrial projects and must be familiar with their associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques.
- Must be familiar with industrial procurement and vendor surveillance procedures as well as working knowledge of construction industry codes and standards related to the manufacture and testing of electrical components/systems such as IEEE, NEC, NACE, etc.).
