Position Overview:


The Electrical and Instrumentation Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of contractor work according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and client specifications. This role focuses on the inspection of electrical systems, SCADA, System Analyses Tests (SAT), and pressure limiting systems within natural gas utility construction projects.

The inspector's responsibilities include evaluating the installation of conduits, control piping, tubing, wiring, instruments, valves, SCADA, and associated communication systems.

Key duties involve overseeing the contractor's preparation, excavation, installation, and fitting of both underground and above-ground electrical and gas lines related to SCADA controls for natural gas utility infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Monitor contractor installations, fabrication, and other specified field activities related to electrical SCADA systems and additional equipment as required.

2. Conduct System Analyses Testing (SAT).

3. Interpret blueprints, ISO documents, and P&IDs to ensure adherence to design specifications.

4. Perform visual and mechanical inspections of equipment to diagnose issues and confirm proper functionality; utilize testing equipment for electronic and mechanical components.

5. Utilize both digital and physical documentation to receive, review, and familiarize with job-specific instructions, standards, and project scope.

6. Prepare detailed inspection reports.

7. Document modifications to job estimates, prints, and sketches using both digital and physical records.

8. Effectively communicate with stakeholders and team members throughout the project to identify and address potential challenges, risks, and changes.


Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

1. At least 3 years of experience in instrumentation, controls, or electrical fields.
2. Familiarity with quality assurance/control procedures relevant to construction projects.
3. Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
4. Must be at least 18 years old.
5. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
6. Valid Driver's License is necessary.
7. Ability to work and travel in various weather conditions.
8. Willingness to travel and relocate to different job sites as needed within the service territory.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Completion of an apprenticeship in instrumentation, controls, or electrical fields.
2. 5 years of experience in instrumentation, controls, or electrical fields.
3. Previous experience in gas pipeline and instrumentation construction.
4. Understanding of hazardous locations as per article 500 of the NEC.
5. Certifications such as SIEE, CEI, or ICC Electrical Inspection.
6. State Journeyman or equivalent electrician license.
7. Knowledge of rigid conduit, bending, and installation practices.

Work Environment:
This position involves both fieldwork and office-based tasks. The role requires travel to project sites and the use of standard office equipment such as computers and telephones.
