Position Overview:
The Facilities Management department is in search of a proactive and motivated Lead Facilities Project Inspector to lead our project inspection initiatives.
This role involves verifying and validating the services provided by contractors on projects related to conveyance and fire safety systems.
The successful candidate will cultivate relationships, engage with stakeholders, and ensure that high-quality work is executed on the safety and conveyance systems at the airport, including elevators, escalators, emergency generators, fire systems, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine and complex inspections of trade-specific areas with significant discretion and initiative, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes.
- Evaluates the safety and efficiency of vertical transportation systems, identifying potential defects and recommending necessary remedial actions.
- Oversees project lifecycles, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project schedules while maintaining safety standards.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating work activities and participating in project meetings.
- Provides technical guidance regarding building codes, regulations, and inspection practices, staying informed on industry trends.
- Maintains comprehensive records related to inspection activities, including contract payments, labor, materials, and safety issues.
- Participates in the development and improvement of programs, practices, and documentation related to project management.
- Operates specialized equipment and software for inspections and project management.
- Facilitates the onboarding and training of new team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in engineering or a related field.
- Four years of relevant experience in public works-related engineering, including inspection responsibilities.
- Possession of a California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority's vehicle insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications from recognized professional organizations.
The salary for the Lead Facilities Project Inspector position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
