Currently, we are looking for a HR and Safety Assistant to join the ArcBest team. The HR and Safety Assistant answers inquiries and provides information to the general public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at company establishments and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization. The HR and Safety Assistant also assists with HR and Safety related duties within the organization.

Your contribution may include:

* Operate telephone system to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information and taking messages.
* Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and maintain appropriate visitor logs.
* Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided.
* Maintain access control system in regard to creation of Employee ID and visitor badges.
* Maintain lobby and reception work area in a professional manner.
* Conduct safety and security audits of campus locations.
* Monitor security cameras and report any suspicious activity.
* Activate emergency response notifications as applicable.
* Respond to inquiries regarding CDC guidelines in regard to Public Health crises.
* Provide guidance and assistance on human resources policies, procedures, and standards to current and potential employees.
* Maintain confidential employee records.
* Lead various Human Resources projects.
* Approve incoming requests including, but not limited to, legal and preferred name changes, photo changes, etc.
* Provide campus tours as needed or requested.
* Create a positive experience for all new employees to support the employee engagement initiatives.
* Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a HR and Safety Assistant, you will be a member of the ArcBest Human Resources team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Customer service experience and knowledge of human resources and/or safety, preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
