Overview:

The Occupational Health Services (OHS) Associate Director at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) works directly under the leadership and direction of the Clinical Executive Director for the AMC OHS Clinics. This position is responsible for directly overseeing the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations for the clinic, including both the Occupational Health and Workers Compensation injury management functions in the clinic. They will directly manage and supervise the clinical staff and support the Clinical Executive Director in fulfilling the mission of the department at the clinic level, including facilitating the mobilization/allocation of resources to meet the service population needs, and identifying the need for, and implementing clinical and administrative process improvements. The Associate Director will also support the Clinical Executive Director in realigning clinical services to support the department's centralization strategy of key services.

The Associate Director also provides occupational health expertise and consultation to the organization's leadership and collaborates with members in related departments of the hospital's health and safety infrastructure such as Infection Control, Human Resources, and Research, among others.

The Associate Director is expected to provide clinical support when needed to assist occupational health practice. This requires that they utilize a foundation of clinical experience and knowledge to practice autonomously, following clinical guidelines, for simple and complex presentations to provide direct care to patients. They are also responsible for providing case management of complex cases to facilitate positive outcomes for patients impacted by occupational injury, illness, or exposures.

They work collaboratively with the broader Mass General Brigham (MGB) OHS leadership team, including the MGB Sr. Vice President, MGB Administrative Executive Director and other OHS Directors to ensure consistency and alignment with the department strategy.

Responsibilities:

The Associate Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the MGH Occupational Health clinic and supervising staff with a focus on developing the professional practice environment and ensuring the clinic operates efficiently and provides excellent customer service.

The principal duties and responsibilities of the Associate Director are:

* Provide leadership to and support to staff to:

o Interpret policy and procedure for staff

o Facilitate communication and collaboration through role modeling and mentoring staff

o Manage performance improvement and evaluation of staff

o Supports scheduling and approving requests for time off

* • Provide clinical consultation for complex cases
* Facilitate patient care and service delivery by allocating staff resources and facilitating patient needs
* Implement and monitor clinic-based standards and process improvements
* Participate in appropriate committees as a member of the health and safety infrastructure
* In conjunction with the Clinical Executive Director, provide consultation to Human Resources staff, site leadership, and managers on occupational health matters
* Develop and manage key programs, collaborates with key departments and team members to improve compliance, ensure delivery of services to meet program objectives in a resource effective manner, and provides metrics for these programs. The Associate Director is expected to identify standard methods related to program management and delivery specific to these key programs.
* Oversee the planning staffing and supervision of MGH OHS vaccine clinics
* Work closely with key partners and members of the health and safety infrastructure. They support those who provide expertise to provide consultation on a wide range of infectious disease issues with occupational health impact to key internal partners, OHS staff, and patients.
* When providing occupational health services, the Associate Director provides support for the triage and assessment of employees presenting with occupational injury, illness, or exposure, develops treatment plans in accordance with established clinical guidelines, and provides follow-up and adapts treatment plans as appropriate to employee need. They also provide support for work clearance review for patients required to be cleared based on work policy or public health guidelines. The Associate Director is also responsible for providing support for the effective, comprehensive patient education and counseling.
* Utilize the principles of case management to achieve the best outcomes for employees in a cost- effective manner. The Associate Director supports the liaison function between the manager, employee, and providers. The Associate Director assists in supporting a system of clinical documentation that meets the established practice criteria and follows documentation templates and clinical guidelines. They support the maintenance of the security and confidentiality of protected health and personal information. The Associate Director supports the maintenance of appropriate records and databases to ensure organizational compliance with mandated reporting including but not limited to annual influenza vaccination data, OSHA 300 Log, and the Department of Public Health Annual Sharps Log.

Qualifications:

* Certified as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner or RN with healthcare experience in Massachusetts (Preferred). Current CPR certification required (required for clinical credentialing).
* A minimum of three years of healthcare experience with at least two of those years in either occupational health, emergency room, ambulatory care, or orthopedics. Program management experience preferred.
* At least 2 years of supervisory experience or equivalent leadership and organizational experience
* The ideal candidate should ideally have 2 years of experience in occupational health or relevant healthcare experience. Candidates with progressive management and leadership healthcare experience will be considered in the absence of occupational health experience. Ideally, occupational or healthcare experience should have been in a hospital occupational health setting, or other similar setting, such as ambulatory or urgent care.
* A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

* This is a Hybrid position with the expectation of working in the clinic at least 4 days/week
* Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites
