Pays $83,616.00 annually - DOE

Location: Office location at 3368 Washington St, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. However, travel is required to all Supported programs/locations.

Summary of the Position:

The Associate Director is responsible for the operations and clinical management of the Recovery teams within Pine Street Inn’s Permanent Supportive Housing department. The Recovery Teams provide comprehensive clinical supports to both individuals and staff in the Housing Department and Specialized Housing, as well as serving individuals with substance use histories at risk for losing their housing in the community. The Associate Director must have strong clinical skills and expertise in order to provide clinical consultation to the team so that they can in turn provide support, clinical services, and appropriate resources addressing the complexities of care for individuals with histories of trauma, mental illness and addictive disorders, utilizing Harm Reduction as a model of engagement, intervention and evaluation. The Associate Director will also provide guidance and supervision to the team to develop and offer solution-focused interventions that promote stability, wellness and recovery and ultimately restore housing environments to their non-crisis state, optimal states of well-being as quickly and efficiently as possible with housing retention and promoting independence being the ultimate goal. The Associate Director will assist with program and policy development, develop and lead staff training and in-services and will assist the Director in pursuing new program opportunities. The Associate Director will need to be a team player and a collaborator, and collaborate and coordinate services with other departments across Housing and with other service divisions throughout the Inn.

Requirements:

EDUCATION/TRAINING:


REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree in social work or a related field (counseling, psychology
  • LICSW, LMHC, or ability to obtain independent licensure within 1 year of hire
  • Currently certified in or have ability to achieve CPR, and First Aid certification
  • Recovery Coach Supervisor Certification or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hire

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


REQUIRED:

  • Ten (10) years’ experience providing services to adults who experience mental illness, substance use disorders and may have symptoms related to traumatic brain injury and experiences of trauma.
  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical supervisory experience
  • Clinical skills and competence to offer education around substance use, trauma, co-occurring disorders, mental illness diagnoses, and emotional and mental health generally
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to use of management information systems or database programs
  • Knowledge of and strong commitment to Harm Reduction philosophy, principles and practices.


PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with chronically homeless, medically vulnerable individuals, with tri-morbidities (mental illness, substance abuse, medically compromised)
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, empowering and otherwise supporting non-clinical direct-care staff
  • Familiarity with Housing First as a model of permanent, supported, affordable housing
  • Expertise in Motivational Interviewing and case management responsibilities
  • Expertise in Trauma-Informed Care, including the impact on direct-care staff (i.e. secondary traumatic stress, vicarious traumatization)
  • Bilingual Spanish/ English
