Position summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Scientist I/II with experience in protein purification and characterization to join Immunome's Antibody Engineering group. This group supports mission-critical activities in both early phase research as well as lead discovery and optimization of antibody-based biologics. Therefore, the successful candidate will have opportunities to make meaningful contributions to programs at all levels of the research and early development spectrum. The RSI/II will support the production, purification, and characterization of recombinant proteins and antibodies. Working within a dynamic research environment, you will contribute to the advancement of various scientific projects by efficiently producing high-quality proteins for downstream applications. Your role will involve executing laboratory protocols, optimizing production processes, and ensuring the integrity and reproducibility of experimental results. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to laboratory safety protocols are essential aspects of this position. Prior industry/academic experience with cell culture, protein expression, and purification on AKTA or other chromatography instruments is a requirement. The ideal candidate will be interested in learning new assays and techniques to support the team's goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform protein expression and purification using mammalian, or other expression systems.
  • Execute established protocols to produce recombinant proteins, ensuring high yield and purity.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize production processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Conduct analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, BLI, ELISA, and chromatography to assess protein quality and quantity.
  • Perform protein stability studies, including thermal denaturation, freeze-thaw, and aggregation analysis.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, including experimental protocols, data analysis, and observations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and summaries of experimental findings for internal use and regulatory submissions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including molecular biologists, biochemists, and analytical scientists, to support project objectives.
  • Communicate experimental plans, results, and interpretations effectively within the team and across departments.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning through regular maintenance and calibration.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, including the handling of hazardous materials and the proper disposal of waste.
  • Contribute to the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory workspace.

Requirements

Educational background and experience: Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or related discipline with 4+ years of industry experience OR MS with 2+ years of industry experience OR PhD with 0-2 years of experience in industry or academia.
