Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Manage the CommonSpirit Health Payroll Production Support team responsible for execution and maintenance of Payroll systems, tools, and applications that support CommonSpirit Payroll business functions. Manage Payroll systems functionality, including integration with other systems that receive/utilize payroll data. Business systems include, but are not limited to, Lawson ERP, Kronos, API scheduling and timekeeping systems, productivity, labor analytics, and other payroll software and tools. Provide guidance and management for payroll application enhancements, upgrades, testing, implementation, integration, training, and production support. Provide payroll teams with operational data in order to meet operational goals. Manage and support systems and tools needed to enable organizational-wide adoption of payroll best practices, process improvements, and system efficiencies. Partner closely with Payroll Operations and Human Resources leadership to identify opportunities for system improvement and optimization. Manage system-related processes to ensure payroll transactions are in compliance with labor and employment-related tax regulations and reporting. Implement and manage artificial intelligence as needed to eliminate redundancies and create value-added work for Payroll. Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to prioritize issues and escalate to Lawson's Global Support Center or IT support as necessary.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

* Manage system-related activities that support a large-scale Payroll operations and service center for CommonSpirit.
* Implement and manage new and existing systems and tools required to support strategic payroll initiatives.
* Manage application upgrades, production support, product enhancements, and software implementations for CommonSpirit Payroll, including system integrations with other functional areas. Business systems to be supported include, but are not limited to, Lawson ERP, Kronos and API scheduling and timekeeping systems, Productivity, labor analytics, and other payroll software and tools
* Manage objectives and align priorities to drive successful completion of initiatives that would allow for efficient and effective payroll operations.
* Manage and support systems and tools needed to enable organizational-wide adoption of payroll best practices, process improvements, and system enhancements to increase efficiencies and reduce costs for CommonSpirit.
* Provide the Payroll Service Center with operational data, reports, and KPIs in order to meet operational goals.
* Partner with Payroll Operations and Human Resources leadership to identify opportunities for system improvement and optimization.
* Manage system-related processes to ensure payroll transactions are in compliance with labor and employment-related tax regulations and reporting.
* Implement and manage artificial intelligence as needed to eliminate redundancies and create value-added work for payroll.
* Manage day-to-day production issues in Lawson and other payroll applications, and partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to prioritize issues and escalate to Lawson's Global Support Center or IT support as necessary.
* Partner with Payroll and HR Subject Matter Experts in resolving payroll processing issues and escalations.
* Keep current on emerging technologies for payroll, time & attendance, and staffing & scheduling, and make recommendations as appropriate.
* Partner with functional and technical leaders to achieve the following: (a) aligned and standardized vision of how payroll applications will be used, (b) definition of how payroll best practices and processes can be implemented to optimize the use of payroll applications, (3) determination of higher quality reporting and analysis using Lawson or other functional department software and (4) integration of payroll systems and tools in a standard, highly optimized manner to ensure financial controls and data integrity, and required operational functionality is available to functional users.
* Support financial review and engage in audit activities to ensure system and data integrity
* Ensure all documentation relative to Payroll production support are completed and regularly updated.
* Manage staff workload balances, promote teamwork and professional work environment, coach staff to promote personal and professional development, set achievable individual and team performance goals, set clear expectations and provide regular, ongoing feedback to staff as well as complete annual performance appraisals, and actionable items for staff members and the team as a whole.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering. Minimum of five (5) years of broad finance and business technology experience including in-depth knowledge of technology-enabled financial operations and processes in large organizations; significant work experience with healthcare finance technology, including software implementations, system optimization, transformation, and change management experience. At least 5 years of progressive experience managing large scale Payroll, Time & Attendance, and Staffing & Scheduling systems, preferably in the healthcare industry. At least 5 years of managerial and supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to develop and mentor staff at varying levels.

Required Licensure and Certifications

CPA, MBA, or Six Sigma preferred

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Minimum of 5 years of management experience including supervision and management of exempt and non-exempt staff with business technology background.

Minimum of 5 years of major ERP software and information system knowledge and experience, including a strong understanding (and working knowledge) of integrated payroll and timekeeping systems.

Proven ability to develop and lead a collaborative team and establish/maintain efficient, effective operations within a large complex organization

Sound business acumen; ability to define root cause, drill into details, and implement effective countermeasures where required. Ability to identify opportunities and take appropriate actions.

Proven experience in contributing to an agile, growth-oriented, and efficiency-focused environment
