Duties Description The New York State Senate Journal Clerk's Office is seeking an energetic team- and detail-oriented individual to fill a vacancy. The Journal Clerk's Office supports the day-to-day legislative activities of Senators and staff, and is responsible for maintaining the official record of the Senate's activities, including member attendance, bill actions, voting records, motions, resolutions, and nominations.

The Calendar Operations Clerk is responsible for preparing and printing the daily session calendar, weekly committee agendas, and the annual Senate Journal. The Calendar Operations Clerk also works on the Senate chamber desk during Senate sessions.

While the position is largely Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00PM, some evening and weekend hours will be required when the Senate is in session.

Specific responsibilities for Calendar Operations clerks include:

• Preparing and handling bill jackets
• Creating and printing the Senate Calendar
• Preparing and printing Senate committee agendas
• Printing and preparing engrossed resolutions
• Preparing and proof-reading the Senate Journal
• Organizing and filing legislative documents
• Staffing the Senate Desk during Senate sessions
• Interacting with Senators' offices when needed
• Working with other Senate staff

Additional Comments This is a full-time position with a salary range of $35,000 to $40,000, commensurate with education and experience.
