Summary:

AAMU-RISE, the non-profit contracting arm for Alabama A&M University seeks a full-time Financial and Administrative Officer.   

 

The successful candidate should have background and experience in supporting contracting and sub-contracts with US government and/or industrial customers, (e.g. NASA, DoD) including invoicing, budgeting, reporting, knowledge of FAR and DFARS requirements, support of new business proposals, and knowledge of financial reporting standards.

 

The Financial and Administrative Officer will have minimal travel requirements, and should be available to work full-time, primarily in-person at AAMU-RISE facilities in Huntsville, AL.  They will support, and potentially lead teams as delegated by the AAMU-RISE Director. They will report to the Director.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

* Drafting, finalizing and routine updating of project budgets.
* Produce periodic invoices and supporting documentation to customers.
* Produce periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) financial reporting documentation and provide support for external audits.
* Support business development proposal efforts.
* Preparation of certifications and representations and other documentation to accompany cost proposals and maintain appropriate access to multiple customer sites.
* Coordinate purchasing of materials and travel with project participants.
* Lead existing and initiate new financial management processes/workflow as needed.
* Work with individual project managers to ensure project expenditures are accomplished in a timely fashion, and that HR and payroll activities for all project participants are in place and function efficiently. 
* Other responsibilities as assigned.

 Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):

* Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
* 3-5 years of professional experience supporting the management and administration of US government contracts, sub-contracts, and budgets.

Desired skills and qualifications:

* MBA or closely related.
* Professional Certifications/Affiliations

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Specific qualifications include:

* Demonstrated understanding of financial, administrative, and compliance requirements of donor, and industry funded projects.
* Experience in financial reporting, FAR, DFARS and contracts compliance.
* Experience supporting proposal development efforts.
* Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
* Demonstrated communication and coordination skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines.
* Strong communications skills, both oral and written
