About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer and Operations Director at Illinois State University. This role will play a critical part in directing and managing the financial, personnel, policies, and operations of the University's administrative units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage the financial, personnel, policies, and operations of the University's administrative units, ensuring compliance with all applicable University, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Provide financial stewardship, vision, and innovation to implement best practices in support of the University's strategic plan, driving a culture of accountability, consistency, and equity.
  • Develop and execute the vision for each administrative unit under supervision, leveraging expertise in accounting, finance, and fiscal administrative support services.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of integrated financial management systems and processes, ensuring effective evaluation and management of financial resources.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field, with a strong background in governmental and higher education fund accounting standards, methods, and procedures.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, active or inactive license, with a minimum of 15 years of management-level experience in accounting, finance, and fiscal administrative support services roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive managerial experience at the director level or above in nonprofit, governmental, and/or higher education, with expertise in fiscal and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Experience with evaluation, implementation, and management of integrated financial management systems and processes, with a strong understanding of financial and accounting controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master in Business Administration or similar graduate degree, with a focus on financial management and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge and experience with fiscal and administrative policies and procedures governed by the State of Illinois, with a strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and strengthen financial and accounting controls to ensure proper stewardship and protection of the University's financial resources.
