Position Summary:
* Prepare the operating room for assigned surgical procedures with proper instrumentation and sterilization
* Navigate the nuances of surgical procedures and surgeons you'll be supporting
* Adapt to the needs of emergency situations
* Provide clean-up and turnover of operating room to prepare for next patient
Responsibilities
* Assist surgical team in the scrubbing role and report any breaks in aseptic technique
* Assist with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting
* Perform surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure
* Assure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure
* Work closely with the instrument room as service specialist/instrument liaison to assure provision of quality
* Assist RN with circulator duties while under direct supervision
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma/GED
Licensure/Certification:
Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) required as of September 1, 2010 or 'grandfathered' employees or LVN
BLS Certification Required
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of experience
