We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to enhance our team. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills, and be prepared to thrive in a dynamic environment. A minimum of three years of experience in veterinary medicine is preferred, although experienced non-credentialed candidates will also be considered.

Position Overview

The Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in assisting veterinarians and lead technicians with patient care and treatment. Responsibilities include monitoring hospitalized animals, managing inventory, preparing prescriptions, conducting routine laboratory tests, educating clients about veterinary care, and assisting in surgical procedures.

Essential Duties

  • Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures.
  • Conduct outpatient exams, including taking histories, vital signs, and weights, while providing client education.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor their vital signs during procedures.
  • Collect samples for laboratory testing and perform in-house diagnostics.
  • Take and maintain radiographs while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Handle and restrain animals during examinations.
  • Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratories; restock supplies as needed.
  • Exhibit warmth and professionalism in all client interactions, demonstrating compassion for patients.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and team members regarding patient care and client concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Active Veterinary Technician license in the state of North Carolina.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and patients, with assistance for heavier loads.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and proper PPE usage.
  • Basic math skills for medication dosage calculations.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.
