Electric Vehicle Customer Integration Engineer

Job Description:

Summary:

The role is focused on the integration, design, and development of Electric Vehicle propulsion solutions. The primary responsibility is to assist in the integration of Allison EV solutions into the OEM vehicles, which includes assisting in the design and development of the EV system with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

* Participate in cross-functional Product Line Team meetings to launch EV products - lead customer input into this team and provide customer integration team with product information
* Develop material and help lead technical EV product discussions with internal customer integration and sales teams
* Develop material and help lead technical EV product discussions with external engineering and sales teams as required
* Identifies and comprehends global EV customer needs, applications, and desired features sets, and drives product requirement changes and enhancements through the established processes
* Recognizes competitive threats and key market trends, and communicates information
* Author and own the EV product technical specification
* Help facilitate tech data development based upon the product technical specification, released prints, test reports, and OEM requests.
* Help facilitate responses to customer requests for product information
* Help coordinate customer request for prototype hardware with sales and engineering groups
* Collaborate in engineering integration teams to review design changes, plan validation, and resolve issues
* Support development of analysis tools for EV performance reports and ratings checks
* Assist in the development of the Interface Control Documents (ICD) working collaboratively with owners from other functions to define interface requirements
* Help manage EV integration activities with customers and vehicle integrators
* Help manage EV customer evaluation program definition, tracking, and lessons learned
* Ability to interpret, organize and audit progress of broad and complex projects and problems.
* Help define requirements and support the creation of EV configuration options for OEMs
* Support EV product installation review and drivability assessments
* Support EV product demonstrations and on-site training to demonstrate Allison value
* Provide on-site or on-demand problem solving support for EV customer test units
* Keep abreast of Allison technical and product developments

Education Required:

* BSME, BSEE

Education Preferred:

* MSME, MSEE, MBA

Experience:

Required:

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in electric or hybrid powertrain design or integration.
* Familiar with EV systems including electric machines, high voltage batteries, inverters, and controls
* Mechanical aptitude or background knowledge of automatic transmissions.
* Proficient in oral and written business communication.
* Ability to communicate technical issues to varied audiences.
* Targets and achieves results, sets challenging goals, prioritizes tasks, provides leadership/motivation.
* Self-directed and capable of trade-off decision making
* Travel requirements < 25%.

Preferred:

* Familiarity of Allison Transmission Products
* Troubleshooting experience in electronic controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems preferred.
