POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, MAMMALIAN SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY, Biological Engineering-Synthetic Biology Center-Weiss Lab, to join an interdisciplinary academic research lab seeking to create integrated biological systems capable of autonomously performing useful tasks and elucidate the design principles underlying the engineering of complex cellular and tissue phenotypes. Will work with a team of researchers, principal investigators, and lab manager to participate in government- and corporate-sponsored research programs in the area of mammalian synthetic biology. These mammalian genetic circuits will sense cell state, including mRNA, miRNA, metabolites, etc., and implement feedback control and analog, digital, and "neural" logic functions that result in precise spatiotemporal responses such as transcription factors for differentiation, vascularization, cell-cell communication, etc. The project may involve creating virus-like particles (VLPs) by transfecting cells with viral structural proteins, designing sophisticated genetic circuits and assays, collecting data using state-of-the-art techniques (including flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, next-generation sequencing, ELISA, SDS-Page, Western immunoblots, and other analytic technologies), and using computational skills for working with cross-functional teams for data analysis.
