What does the Director Government Affairs - Central Region do at Swire Coca-Cola?

Working in a multi-state geography, the Director will support our business operations by raising the company's visibility building and maintaining key relationships and growing our government affairs capabilities. The Director will represent and protect the company's interests with local, state, and federal officials, customers, trade associations and community partners. The position requires a dynamic leader equipped with excellent communications skills who understands political and legislative implications of Company and industry actions. Operating in a highly polarized and charged environment, the Director will balance the different actors and actions within the political spectrum, providing on-the-ground crisis and incident management to impacted territories while serving as media spokesperson, as needed.

Responsibilities:

* Build, preserve, and improve relationships with key government agencies, government officials, industry associations, NGOs, community opinion leaders, as well as with other relevant constituencies, including up-and-coming leaders to shape their perceptions of Swire Coca-Cola
* Provide strategic counsel to industry campaigns, lobbyists, trade associations and consultants on company's positions on tax and regulatory threats, proposed bans and other legislative and public policy challenges
* Serve as part of the Central Region leadership team participating in training and business team meetings to align with operational objectives and to serve as an SME on items related to public relations and government affairs
* Recommend, activate, track, and report on suggested memberships, contributions, and other community participation by the Company
* Coordinate with other parts of the function including Communications, Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships to bring priorities to life in the Central Region; serve as territory owner for the function
* Provide crisis and incident management support to all parts of the business in the region
* Be accountable for ongoing public relations and community relations activities in assigned geography

Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in political science, public relations, communications or similar. Required
* 6+ years' experience working in government relations, public affairs, public relations, and/or on staff with an elected official required
* Significant political campaign experience preferred (candidate, party, issue, ballot initiative, etc.)
* Relationships with key stakeholders in assigned geography
* Crisis management
* Position to be based in Denver, Colorado. Other states of coverage include Utah, Nevada, Wyoming (primary) and Nebraska, Kansas and South Dakota (secondary)

Base pay range is $119,380 to $164,146 plus bonus structure (dependent on role). Pay offered will depend on candidate's geographic location, prior relevant experience, knowledge, skills, & abilities.
