Elections Equipment Rollout Project Support Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Leader, the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Support Specialist supports the planning, logistics, and day to day operational needs of the equipment rollout project across multiple locations throughout the State of Georgia. The project being supported involves transporting, quality assurance testing, implementing, and inventorying various voting equipment. This position supports the mission of the Office of the Secretary of State to ensure secure and fair elections in Georgia.

This position will be based at the Secretary Of State Professional Licensing Board Division offices in Macon with extensive travel throughout the state in support of the project.

The expected regular work schedule of this position is Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM but is subject to change depending on operational need. Extended workdays and overnight travel will be required based on operational need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Conducts equipment inventory and acceptance testing of new equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
* Performs quality assurance tests on various components of the voting system.
* Collaborates with fellow team members and supervisors regarding inventory and testing results, delays, and any other issues that may impact the project.
* Actively tests equipment to identify errors or defects and to ensure that all units meet specifications set forth in testing criteria.
* Complete written and/or electronic documentation of equipment test results and inventory results in accordance with standard procedures.
* Ensures the security of all elections equipment during testing / inventory activities by following established processes and chain of custody procedures in accordance with legal requirements and any additional Elections Division policies.
* Collaborates with the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Leader, Elections Equipment Rollout Base Leaders, and other Election Information Systems & Data team members regarding the project and any issues that may arise.
* Communicates with county Election Officials including sending official email communications to county Election Officials on behalf of the SOS Elections Division in reference to the project.
* Alongside the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Leader serves as a liaison between the project team and SOS Elections Division staff.
* Review paperwork related to equipment implementation and inventory each day for accuracy, completion, and to ensure that all assets are accounted for.
* Assists in tracking county by county project status, equipment inventory levels, and completion to ensure that the project runs to schedule.
* Partners with the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Leader to coordinate with vendors regarding equipment delivery and reverse logistics.
* Identify and resolve issues that may arise and escalate recurring process issues to leadership.
* Loading and unloading of vehicles and transportation of equipment between state and county facilities including routine lifting of items weighing 70 pounds.
* Drives state and privately owned vehicles in support of the project.
* Will have shared on-call responsibilities alongside the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Leader.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

* Ability to work 10-12-hour workdays (including travel time).
* Ability to travel (in-state non-overnight) up to 100 percent of the time (four days a week) based on operational needs.
* Ability to travel (in-state overnight) up to 75 percent of the time (three nights a week) based on operational needs.
* Utilizes good written and interpersonal communication skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

* High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in an elections, project management, inventory management, or quality assurance environment or other relevant workforce experience. Candidates who have practical working experience in a program or setting regulated by ordinance or public sector policies are preferred.
* An associate or bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university in a related field is highly desirable.
* Experience working in elections is highly desirable.
* Possession of a valid state driver's license.

Bachelors Degree *and* One (1) year of work related experience OR Associates Degree in Business Administrative Technology *and* Two (2) years of related work experience Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
