Additional Position Details:FTE: 0.6 (48 hours per pay period) |Part Time|3rd Shift - Nights

PLEASE NOTE: This is anentrylevel position with atypicalstarting range of between $15.00 to $17.00 an hour (depending years of work experience). A rate over $17.00 an hour could take at least 5 years of very direct work experience (such as caregiver or CNA) or 10+ years of non-relevant work experience. For internal candidates: If you are currently in another role within the organization, including as a CNA, please be aware that you will most likely be looking at a pay decrease to move into this role due to the paygrade of the position.

However, as aPatient Safety Monitorat Asante, you will have the opportunity to earn extra money (shift differentials) for swing, night, and weekend hours:

  • $1.16 extra per hour for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm.
  • $2.00 extra per hour for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am.
  • $0.99 extra per hour for working weekend hours.
Position Summary
ThePatient Safety Monitorprimarily assists with providing a safe environment to a specific patient through visual observation. The need for a Patient Safety Monitor is initiated and ordered by the attending physician or per hospital policy and in this role, will be responsible for providing customer service to the patient and as well as notifying the appropriate primary nurse and/or charge nurse of safety issues or concerns.

Patient safety monitoring is done both in person, at the bedside, and through a virtual telehealth model. A PSM may observe up to 11 patients on virtual cameras. They will work with care teams to monitor, admit, and discharge patients from virtual monitors and provide breaks to other PSM staff.
Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the healthcare delivery team by monitoring patient activities as directed by primary nurse, always assuring patient safety.
  • Documenting observation in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Participating in education and Performance Improvement activities to provide a quality service and keep current with industry changes.
Position Qualifications
Experience

  • Previous work or volunteer experience doing customer service type tasks, such as answering questions and communicating information is required.
Certifications/Courses

  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start .
  • Asante Crisis Intervention course must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Asante Safe Patient Handling course must be completed within 30 days of hire.
